Speaking on 22 February at the inauguration of the year of ecclesiastical justice of the interdiocesan Ecclesiastica Tribunal Flaminio, he explained that the "psychological fragility" of the couples is the reason for 86% of annulment cases.
The Flaminio Tribunal covers nine dioceses: Bologna, Ferrara-Comacchio, Imola, Faenza-Modigliana, Ravenna-Cervia, Forlì-Bertinoro, Cesena-Sarsina, Rimini and San Marino-Montefeltro. Three million Catholics live in these dioceses.
Last year, the Court issued 55 first-instance judgments, 20 of which concerned people living in the Archdiocese of Bologna (compared to 26 cases in 2022).
Cardinal Zuppi's comment: "Only twenty cases, I wish there were more". He quoted Francis' blasphemous Amoris laetitia and claimed that an annulment is "not" a Catholic divorce.
But the question is: why would Catholic divorcees bother to go through an annulment process if Francis himself does not take the marriage bond seriously?
