Cardinal Wants More Marriage Annulments

Francis once claimed that "a good proportion" of Catholic marriages were invalid. Now Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, president of the Italian Bishops' Conference, has complained that there are not enough annulments of Catholic marriages.

Speaking on 22 February at the inauguration of the year of ecclesiastical justice of the interdiocesan Ecclesiastica Tribunal Flaminio, he explained that the "psychological fragility" of the couples is the reason for 86% of annulment cases.

The Flaminio Tribunal covers nine dioceses: Bologna, Ferrara-Comacchio, Imola, Faenza-Modigliana, Ravenna-Cervia, Forlì-Bertinoro, Cesena-Sarsina, Rimini and San Marino-Montefeltro. Three million Catholics live in these dioceses.

Last year, the Court issued 55 first-instance judgments, 20 of which concerned people living in the Archdiocese of Bologna (compared to 26 cases in 2022).

Cardinal Zuppi's comment: "Only twenty cases, I wish there were more". He quoted Francis' blasphemous Amoris laetitia and claimed that an annulment is "not" a Catholic divorce.

But the question is: why would Catholic divorcees bother to go through an annulment process if Francis himself does not take the marriage bond seriously?

What this sect did was not annulments, but divorces, violating the commandment “What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” This is how they want to lure even more souls to hell. Soon they will introduce (and in fact have already introduced) such a basis for “annulments” as “I’m tired of you, I want to leave you.” All the main activities of the conciliar-synodal church …More

Soon they will introduce (and in fact have already introduced) such a basis for “annulments” as “I’m tired of you, I want to leave you.” All the main activities of the conciliar-synodal church pursue one single goal - to send as many souls as possible to hell. This is because this sect is guided by the spirit of satan, that is, it is not the Catholic Church.

Matrimony is the only sacrament you can't be sure you have received. You are married in the Church and think you have been married. Then after ten, twenty, thirty years you discover that you didn't have "due discretion" when you took your vow. My wife and I have forty-seven years in our possible marriage, but heck, I may die not knowing if I had ever received the sacrament of matrimony. Clearly …More

What a farce!
