Pope to deliver “Thought For The Day” on Christmas Eve

United Kingdom

Pope Benedict has recorded a three minutes Christmas message to be broadcast by the BBC on Christmas Eve. It will go out as the “Thought For The Day” on the Today program on Radio 4. This is the first time that Pope Benedict has addressed a Christmas message especially for one of the countries he has visited during the year. Negotiations between the BBC and the Vatican went on for many months to enable the recording to take place.

A New Syllabus?

Rome

From December 16 to December 18 took place a conference in Rome entitled "Vatican II, a pastoral council: historical, philosophical, and theological analysis." Among the speakers was Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Karaganda. Rorate Coeli comments: The bishop somehow presented to his audience selected texts of a Vatican II, “more orthodox than Trent.” The blog adds: The bishop concluded his remarks by suggesting the writing of a Syllabus infallibly condemning "the misinterpretation of the Vatican Council II”.

“Acts of the Apostasy” has given more reasons, why women should not become priests: “When you let a woman into your life, at first it's all butterflies and rainbows” – the blog writes: So it's natural that there might be some, let's say 'acquiescing' on your part. "You should change your hair," she says. Sure, no prob. "I think this style of shirt would look great on you," she suggests. Anything for you, hon. "Have you thought of getting contacts?" No big deal - sure. The blog gives vicar Lorna Smith in Essex as an example. Worshippers at her village church try to oust her. The reason: Lorna wants to replace the pews with plastic chairs, dig up the floor and install underground heating. “Acts of the Apostasy’ comments: “Ordinatio Sacerdotalis doesn't include this as a reason as to why the Church can't ordain women - but it sure as heck is a good reason as to why they shouldn't.”

@ Dionia - 😀 Twas rather funny hearing you comment on the suggestion of female ordination to Holy Orders in terms of 'the female' creature! Nevertheless, quite apt! 👌 😀
