Sister André Randon, the world's oldest person, died in Toulon, France, on 17 January at the age of 118.
Born Lucile Randon, the former Protestant converted to Catholicism in 1923 at the age of 19 and joined the Daughters of Charity in 1944.

79 years a nun and 100 years a catholic - how lovely and inspirational that she served God and His people so long. 118 years is right up there - she passed through much history. Rest in peace and God Bless you Sister Andre Randon and thank you for all that work and prayers - you never stopped to count them.

God rest her soul. Our children should know more about people like her rather than those who are paraded in front of them by an off-kilter world.

What's sad about her is that she entered her Order when it was a wonderful community, the largest Order of sisters in the world, with 51,000+ pre-Vatican II, and now almost less than 12,000. The uniform her Order wore, with the big white starched cornets, was famous around the world. But they had learned to adapt even before Vatican II. They …More
May she rest in peace. RIP. What a kind face she had. What's sad about her is that she entered her Order when it was a wonderful community, the largest Order of sisters in the world, with 51,000+ pre-Vatican II, and now almost less than 12,000. The uniform her Order wore, with the big white starched cornets, was famous around the world. But they had learned to adapt even before Vatican II. They introduced small white veils when they were driving a car, and put the cornets back on when arriving at destination. That worked fine, and they should have kept it.
