Beach Eucharists on the Adriatic Coast – "Bring Your Own Towel"

The Scholastic Chaplaincy of the Archdiocese of Lanciano-Ortona organized every Sunday of the summer of 2024 Eucharists on different beaches of the Costa dei Trabocchi, a stretch of coastline in the Abruzzo region of Italy, along the Adriatic coast.

The Archdiocese of Lanciano-Ortona is headed by Archbishop Emidio Cipollone, 64. The Scholastic Chaplaincy is the archdiocesan pastoral service for pupils, students and educational personnel.

The beach Eucharists were celebrated without an altar on ground with a rainbow flag in the center. Participants were encouraged to bring a towel to sit on the ground.

As usual in pagan ceremonies, the participants mostly formed a kind of semi-circle around the cloth for the offerings in the center.
