Like Siblings: Wanda Półtawska Has Died, 101

Wanda Półtawska, a friend of John Paul II, psychiatrist and Ravensbruck concentration camp survivor, has died at the age of 101 in Krakow.

She would have been 102 on November 2. Półtawska spoke daily by telephone with John Paul II, who called her “my sister”.

In a rare German-language interview with Gloria.tv in 2011, she recalled that, when she was suffering from terminal cancer, Wojtyła asked Padre Pio to pray for her and she was healed. In an aside, she said of journalists that they are not truthful people.
