Swiss abbot: “The Condom is reasonable”

The Benedictine abbot of Engelberg, Abbot Christian Meyer, talked with the magazine “Schweizer Illustrierte“ about contraception:

"Even if it is not the official doctrine of the Church, Pope Francis has said that it can be right in the case of diseases to protect oneself. The condom is reasonable because it’s about personal responsibility.”

According to "Pope Francis has said" you don't even need to be a Catholic. God is not Catholic. So why does Bergoglio want our money?

"Even if it is not the official doctrine of the Church, Pope Francis has said...(fill in the blank)." By now, anyone surprised by what the pope may say next has been living in a cave. But this particular instance is doubly offensive because 1) he ignores the Church teaching 2) for a meaningless purpose. Do we need to sit down with our pope and explain how one protects oneself absolutely from disease?
