Papal Envoy For Medjugorje Has Died. RIP

Retired Archbishop Henryk Hoser, 78, has died on August 13, his former Diocese Warszawa-Praga announced.

He came from a family of famous German gardeners who settled in Warsaw, hence his surname. His father and grandfather were murdered in the first days of the Warsaw Uprising, despite their German roots.

Hoser worked as a physician before joining the Pallottine Fathers. He first worked as a missionary and Apostolic Visitator (de facto Nuncio) in Rwanda.

Benedict XVI made him a bishop in 2005 and an official in the Propaganda Fidei Congregation, and in 2008 the Warsaw-Praga Bishop. After his retirement Francis put him in charge of the shrine in Medjugorje. Hoser was very favourable towards this phenomenon.

In April, Hoser fell ill, was tested positive for Covid-19 and hospitalised. After complications, he was again hospitalised in July in serious condition.

He did a lot of good for Medjugorje. May Mary accompany him to Jesus' Kingdom. Thank you, dear bishop Hoser!
