Recently, the chairman of the German Bishops' Conference, Bishop Georg Bätzing, expressly regretted that the rainbow flag was not raised at the Reichstag in Berlin on Christopher Street Day. Practicing homosexuality is not a sin, even if it is still stated as such in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Church's teaching on this matter can and must change. Respect for the diversity of sexual orientations is a concern of the Catholic Church. Rainbow flags should also be displayed publicly as a symbol of this.
