Vatican: Non-Catholic Prime Minister Receives Communion

Today, Leo XIV canonised seven blessed individuals in St Peter's Square in the Vatican. Among them was the Armenian Catholic Archbishop, Ignatius Maloyan who was murdered by the Turks during the Armenian Genocide in 1915.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashiniyan attended the ceremony and received communion in the mouth. However, Pashiniyan is not a Catholic.

He has a tense relationship with the schismatic Armenian Apostolic community, reflecting his secular stance.
