All that they did at Vatican II was, essentially, to be cheerleaders for the people who were trying to take the flawed, post-Enlightenment world, and turn it into something far worse. Nothing prophetic came from the Vatican at that time, including Humanae vitae.

Perhaps you're unaware but Sheen was actually described as a "Reactionary" by those progressives who wanted to change everything after the council. Fortunately for the Post-Conciliar Church, Sheen was teaching the Traditional Faith at a time of darkness, confusion and unknowing which followed 1965. Yes, Sheen made some mistakes. For example he embraced the "complete slave obedience" of St. Alphonsus Liguori rather than the "conditional obedience" of Pope St. Gregory the Great like so many, many others then. Sometimes I wonder what things would have been like for the Catholic Church if Sheen would have gone with Archbishop Marcel-François Joseph Marie Lefebvre... Alas
