The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced on April 26 to slowly reopen the country.
He plans to allow for funerals, but not wider assemblies such as Masses with faithful.
In a note to Conte, the Italian bishops objected underlining that they - suddenly - “cannot accept to see the exercise of freedom of worship compromised.”
Conte replied that the government is still considering how to allow liturgical celebrations in conditions of maximum security "as soon as possible."

"but not wider assemblies such as Masses with faithful." -so the answer is no, they didn't wake up. Just watch: Catholic Masses will be one of the very last events to be "re-opened", probably with permanent changes of some sort -notably communion in the hand.
