Benedict XVI Made Secret Trips

Officially, after his resignation, Benedict XVI always lived in Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican gardens.

However, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, 75, a Francis’ partisan and former Albano Bishop, told Corriere.it (January 7) that Benedict made secret trips to the papal summer residence near Castel Gandolfo above Lake Albano.

According to Semeraro, Benedict XVI loved the residence so much that he occasionally had himself taken there by car.

Francis has never spent time at Castel Gandolfo which is now a museum.
