He pushed a woman around who had knelt down to receive communion. The Italian-born Musarò forced her to stand up and then assaulted her by pushing her palms apart.
He repeated his assault with a second woman and refused to allow several other worshippers to receive Communion.
Adding insult to injury, the schoolboy had his secretary draft a statement on 11 January affirming that "at no time" did he intend to "offend anyone" but "appreciate the devotion and zeal in receiving communion" [sic].
Assuming his audience to be dimwits, he said he was motivated by the "liturgical reform" of Vatican II, which "encourages the idea of a pilgrim people on a journey to meet the Lord." So why didn't Musarò walk around while distributing Communion?
Redemptionis Sacramentum 91 of 2004 forbids denying Communion to a faithful who wishes to receive it kneeling. But the Vatican has a long tradition of saying one thing and doing the opposite. This is called dishonesty.
