Trump says Iran leadership agrees to talks after US and Israel strike Tehran
Donald Trump said on Sunday that Iran’s political leadership have agreed to talks, a day after the US and Israel began to target the country’s military and political infrastructure, killing the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several top officials.
“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them,” Trump told a reporter for the Atlantic magazine on Sunday. “They should have done it sooner. They should have given what was very practical and easy to do sooner. They waited too long.”
The comments were some of the first from the president since he announced on Truth Social in the early morning hours on Saturday that the US had begun “major combat operations in Iran”.
Trump did not disclose whether any conversation would take place Sunday or next week, telling the Atlantic’s Michael Scherer: “I can’t tell you that” and noting that some of the Iranian officials who had been involved in discussions before the strikes had been killed.

They were in the middle of peace talks. They were ready to meet in a day or two. But it was planned for months to attack them no matter what. Now many countries and nations will never trust us because of his lying and deceptive ways. Lying and pretending he wants peace. No less in the middle of peace talks and he strikes Iran. Many Americans died. Many in the military. And at least 1 to 3 officers staying in a hotel. He lies too much this beast. Never trust anyone with pride. Especially immense pride like he has. And keep in mind that just about everyone including tulsi said, there is no threat from Iran. They have no nuclear weapons nor making them. Then we have trump bragging that he ALREADY destroyed what they were making or planning on making. See how he lies so much? And his left over base believes every lie that spews out of his filthy mouth. They need to keep up with his lies and see that he means nothing he says. NOTHING AT ALL! Oh! As just demonstrated by President Trump, planning talks can be used to hide preparation for attack. We can hope for peace and pray for justice but this remains a terribly dangerous situation.
