Anglican Parson Is New Seychelles President

The leader of the opposition, Rev. Wavel Ramkalawan, defeated the incumbent Seychelles President on Sunday by 54.9% to 43.5%.

Three quarters of the inhabitants of the 115 islands in the Western Indian Ocean, are Catholics.

Ramkalawan succeded at his sixth attempt. He stepped down from his parish duty when entering politics. The country’s vice president is a Moslem.
