Yesterday 16 Jesuit journals around the world published a long interview with Pope Francis in a dozen languages including English. The interview took place over the course of three meetings in August. The Pope spoke to Jesuit Father Antonio Spadaro, editor in chief of La Civiltà Cattolica, the Italian Jesuit journal. Spadaro conducted the interview on behalf of his own and several other major Jesuit journals around the world. The editorial teams at each of the journals prepared questions and sent them to Spadaro who met the pope at the Vatican in the Holy Father's apartments in the Casa Santa Marta.

S vámi se nebojím, že by mohl zavládnout totalitní režim a falešné náboženství. Vždy poznáte, když něco není v pořádku a protiřečí to pravé víře. Nenecháte se oklamat. Církev a věřící budou podrobeni zkouškám, nezapomeňte však na to, že církev není Bůh, náboženství není Boží pravda, tak jako ikony nejsou skutečné. Papež již více není zástupcem Boha, ani jeho vyvoleným. Je to nyní na každém z nás; každý jsme před Bohem sám, a sám se před ním budeme vyznávat.
