I seem to recall our Lord telling a future first pope, "Get behind me, satan!" when He feared His 'Rock' was headed for spiritual rocks. Similarly, it behooves any pope worthy of the office to awaken the "woke" from their spiritually perilous beliefs, rather than placate and patronize them into perdition. As our Lord demonstrated repeatedly, being 'nice' and 'smiling' at error doesn't save souls.
