Fear? Cardinal Burke Knows How to Overcome It
Cardinal Raymond Burke recalled in his Easter Message Warsaw Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński (+1981), Poland.
In 1953 the Communists imprisoned Wyszyński who witnessed torture and execution of many prisoners. Later he was placed under house arrest.
During that time, one of Wyszyński's assistants feared, not without reason, about the secret police which might arrive at the Cardinal's door. However, Wyszyński told him that "when fear knocks at the door, courage opens it, and there is no one there."
Therefore, Burke admonishes that we cannot give way to fear which Satan uses to take away our Christlike courage, "When courage opens the door, what we feared so much will not be there because Christ is with us."
