Saint Emerentiana | Foster Sister of Saint Agnes & Martyr | Saint Story for Kids
In today’s Saint Story for Kids, we learn about Saint Emerentiana, a brave young Christian closely connected to the story of Saint Agnes of Rome.
Saint Emerentiana lived in 4th-century Rome and was a close friend (and foster sister, according to tradition) of Saint Agnes. After Agnes was martyred for her faith, Emerentiana openly defended her and spoke boldly about Jesus. Because of her courage, she was attacked and became a martyr herself.
Although she is often remembered alongside Saint Agnes on January 21, Saint Emerentiana’s own feast day is traditionally celebrated on January 23.
