Truce of the idols

There’s too much Body,
too much Blood,
too painful
to adore,
and all peacemakers
would like God
to stop the Holy War.

All the world wonders:
why by birth
of Prince of Peace, your Lord,
not peace is brought
to our earth
but rather
nasty sword.

It doesn’t work
– they say – at all,
that Peace of Lord,
you see,
therefore our way
we’ll reach the goal:
our peace
and our safety.

They shout: Improve
outdated looks
and make
a clever twist!
The Gospel
and those other books
can safely
coexist!

Let Holy Water
sprinkle us,
not some
perfidious juice,
we'd better die
with arms of Christ
than sign
ungodly truce.
