The artist's depictions of Our Lord here show him to be frail, skinny and weak. I was just listening to a priest at a Family Life Conference here in New York who thinks that Jesus was far from that. He was a working carpenter who could probably have carried large planks of lumber. Sure, he fasted 40 days and 40 nights, but I don't think that would diminish his muscles. On the contrary, the prayer and fasting made him that much stronger physically and spiritually in preparation for what was to come.
