Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś said that the Polish wording of the Good Friday prayer for Jews had been changed 2022 because the previous text was 'so dramatically untrue'. He spoke about the Novus Ordo and not the prayer in the old liturgy. The Cardinal made these remarks during a January press conference held to present the 29th annual Day of Judaism in the Catholic Church in Poland on 15 January. Cardinal Ryś was speaking in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee of the Polish Bishops’ Conference for Dialogue with Judaism. Cardinal Ryś is one of the most liberal bishops in Poland and Leo XIV promoted him to Archbishop of Kraków on 26 November. Military veterans aged 65 face being mobilised under new powers to prepare the Armed Forces for war. The Government is set to increase the age at which the nation’s pool of retired soldiers, known as the strategic reserve, can be called upon from 55 to 65. The new measures are being introduced as part of a new Armed Forces bill, which will be published in Parliament later. The changes will make it easier to mobilise tens of thousands of former military personnel. The Army has shrunk to its smallest number in more than 200 years, with just over 70,000 full-time, fully-trained troops ready to deploy to the frontline. Under existing rules, the pool of retired soldiers can be called upon in the event of “national danger, great emergency or attack in the UK”. However, under the new changes, this will be lowered to “warlike preparations”, which is already the threshold for reservists who have recently left the Armed Forces. A new report from Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement has found that 114 Christian colleges and universities in the United States — more than one in seven — are supporting abortion in some way. The report found these Christian universities either backing abortion or maintaining some type of relationship with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion company. The investigation, conducted for the fourth consecutive year during the 2024-2025 academic year, examined 725 institutions affiliated with Christ-centered denominations that publicly claim a historical Christian faith in their founding. Schools from denominations embracing a pro-abortion stance, such as the Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, Quaker, and Moravian, were excluded.
