Elogio: En la región de Tebaida, en Egipto, san Pacomio, abad, que, cuando aún era pagano, se sintió impresionado por el testimonio de caridad cristiana para con los soldados detenidos en la cárcel común y, después de abrazar el cristianismo, recibió el hábito monástico de manos del anacoreta Palamón. Al cabo de siete años, por inspiración divina fue abriendo numerosos monasterios con el fin de recibir a los monjes en régimen de vida común, y escribió para ellos una célebre Regla.

Mary Catherine of St. Augustine, OSA (French: Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin) (3 May 1632 – 8 May 1668) was a French canoness regular who was instrumental in the development of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec in service to the colony of New France. She has been beatified by the Catholic Church.
She was born Catherine de Simon de Longpré in the town of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, then part of the ancient Province of Normandy in France. Raised primarily by her grandparents, as a child she showed a marked concern for the needs of the sick and the poor. In 1644 she entered the monastery of the Canonesses of St. Augustine of the Mercy of Jesus in Bayeux, which operated the Hôtel-Dieu of the city. She was received into the novitiate of the Order on 24 October of that year,[2] at which point she was given the religious name by which she is now known.

Marie-Catherine de Saint-Augustin (dans le monde Catherine de Simon de Longpré), née le 3 mai 1632 à Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte (France) et décédée le 8 mai 1668 à Québec (Canada), est une religieuse française. D'abord moniale en France elle rejoint des religieuses hospitalières en 1648 pour consacrer sa vie au soin des malades en Nouvelle-France. Elle y acquiert une réputation de sainteté. Considérée comme une fondatrice de l'Église catholique du Canada elle est béatifiée en 1989 et liturgiquement commémorée le 8 mai.
