PiusX: Peace between Russia and Ukraine

Pius X Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta ordained a Russian deacon and a Ukrainian priest on 24 June in the Sacred Heart Seminary of Zaitzkofen.

The Russian was ordained for the Roman Rite, while the Ukrainian priest belongs to the Greek Catholic Fraternity of Saint Josaphat.

De Galarreta said that only the universality of the Catholic faith has the power to create unity and peace.

The following day, the Ukrainian priest celebrated his first mass in the Byzantine rite, whose liturgical language is Slavonic.
