Rupnik Case: Love the Art But Not the Artist

Top officials of the Vatican's Dicastery for Communication, responsible for VaticanNews.va, "decided" at a recent meeting to continue using Father Rupnik's neo-Byzantine art (La-Croix.com, July 3). Rupnik was found guilty of fornicating with nuns for decades.

It is clear that the dicastery "decided" what Francis told them to decide, since he continues to use Rupnik's products. Therefore, they concluded that the work should stand on its own merits and be dissociated from Rupnik's personal life.

The dicastery's pastoral-theological director, Natasa Govekar, is a member of Rupnik's Centro Aletti.
