Why Was Boston Cardinal O’Malley Not Included?
The Boston Herald has complained that Pope Francis did not include Boston Cardinal Sean O’Malley as a member of the organizing committee for the February summit aimed at preventing abuse. The Herald claims that this is a vote of no confidence. In January O’Malley distanced himself from Francis’ handling of abuses in Chile. But shortly after it became known that O’Malley ignored a June 2015 letter detailing homosexual abuses committed by Cardinal McCarrick.
Cardinal Engages In Violence Against Words
In a video message, Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, the president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, claimed that violence against women is – quote – “a kind of sacrilege”. Now, violence against women is terrible, unacceptable, dishonourable and a scandal. But it is not a sacrilege which refers to God or sacred objects or persons.
