Cardinal Dolan will not excommunicate Gov. Cuomo.
CNN journalist Daniel Burke asked a spokesman of New York Cardinal Dolan about the calls for Gov. Cuomo to be excommunicated over NY's new abortion bill.
While emphasizing that this should not be considered a comment on any specific person, he said excommunication "should not be used as a weapon."

Everything Kermit Gosnell was arrested, convicted, and jailed for is now legal in New York - except in New York you don't even have to be a doctor.
If they would be aware of jurisprudence and the CIC it's not necessary to publicly excommunicated Gov. Cuomo because of Factae et Latae Sententiae.
Catholic 101: If a public figure is openly sinning seriously and refusing to repent he must be withheld from receiving and even ex-communicated if necessary. If he is not rebuked than there is public scandal because the Bishop is allowing him to remain in sin while still receiving. If he has a change of heart(after being ex-comm and repents he must publicly denounce his sin. Not the same as one of the little people because he is a public figure.
So also, the leaders in the Church cause scandal by allowing these guys to keep receiving our Lord. This whole "weapon" terminology is just slick way of trying to avoid the TRUTH !!!! They are cowards OR worse yet, have a less than holy agenda !!!
