We tried to be allies with Russia before, and they did what they wanted to anyway. We gave them our hypersonic missile tech and our uranium, for some awful reason.
Trump's approach to Putin was good. Friendly, respectful, but not groveling. Trust but verify, etc.
Yes, Trump's policies are what I had in mind: treat them in a neutral manner from a position of strength and a "don't fool with us" attitude; but don't give them anything.... Otherwise -- like Biden -- we risk driving them into an alliance with China, which can only become a huge problem for us....and the world.
