Stika is accused of interfering in the investigation of sexual misconduct, of a longstanding pattern of inappropriate relationships (“grooming”), and an imprudent relationship with a former seminarian, accused of serial sexual harassment and sexually assaulting a former parish staffer in Knoxville diocese.
In April, Stika told PillarCatholic.com that the charge against him was “fake news.” The investigation was conducted by Louisville Archbishop Joseph Kurtz.
The ex-seminarian was invited temporary to live in the bishop’s home after his dismissal from seminary and given a job in the diocesan chancery. In August, Stika took him on a 10-day road trip along with Cardinal Rigali.
