Child Porn: Father Jackson in New Troubles?

Father James Jackson FSSP, a famous preacher, writer, and former rector of the FSSP seminary in the US, admitted on October 3 that "the government could prove he violated conditions of his pre-trial release" concerning child pornography, reports CatholicNewsAgency.com.

Jackson was arrested in October 2021 on child pornography charges and released to reside with a family member under conditions set in November 2021.

After violating these conditions he was again arrested in July 2022. According to the prosecution, Jackson admitted that the government "could prove" [= legal twisting of words] that he violated the conditions that prohibit him from possessing child pornography.

He allegedly also violated the condition of having access to only one internet-connected device.

Jackson further admitted “that the government could establish probable cause that he committed a new crime, to wit, possession of child pornography, while on pretrial release.”

I happened to check on how this case was going this morning, and found someone on Reddit who was actually in the courtroom yesterday. He questioned CNA’s claim that Fr. Jackson admitted that they could prove he violated release terms, but that he did admit that there was probable cause for the warrant. He also requested to be detained until trial. I think his trial is scheduled for November, barring further delay, on the Rhode Island Federal charges.
