‘We Don’t Pray on Sidelines’: Ravens Player Slams Tebow‘s ’Need’ for God on the Football Field
On Tuesday morning, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs appeared on ESPN’s “First Take,” where he unleashed a rant against Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
While Suggs‘ comments didn’t involve any references to Tebowing they did invoke mentions of Tebow’s faith in the Almighty as well as his ability to perform well on the football field.
“With all due respect, we don’t pray on sidelines. I mean we do — we give it up to God just to be safe…we gonna go out there and win that game,” he said.
These passive-aggressive attacks on Tebow and his reliance upon God went on throughout a solid portion of the interview, with the Ravens linebacker going on to say that his team’s quarterback knows how “to go and win games.”

David Gray, a Catholic blogger, had strong words for the ministry in a blog post, calling BTEA one of a group of false ministries that poaches Catholics.

“The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of Bob Tebow’s converts are poorly catechized Filipino Catholics,” wrote Gray.

Gray noted that Tim Tebow is a volunteer and financial supporter of BTEA and questioned whether it was possible to separate Tebow on the football field from his off-season evangelization and support of the group.

Martin — who as an undergraduate was heavily involved with the nondenominational Campus Crusade for Christ and then returned the Catholic Church — responded to the blog and suggested that BTEA’s activities should serve as a “wake-up call” for better formation of Catholics.

“We need to do a better job of reaching them and caring for them, and if we did, they would be impervious to the outreaches of folks who have a portion of the Gospel but not all of the Gospel.”

Martin said he doesn’t condone anti-Catholicism, but also noted that he would rather have poorly catechized Catholics “embrace evangelical Christianity than Islam, which is what’s happening in other areas of Asia.”

He said later he believes if Tim or his father encountered Catholics with a love and trust of Jesus Christ and who could articulate their faith, “some of the prejudice and misunderstandings of Catholicism would evaporate.”

"Tim is a son Bob Tebow, as well as a faithful volunteer , missionary, and financial contributor of BTEA which has, since 1985, been spreading false teachings throughout the Philippines to deceivingly lure Catholics out of the Catholic Church and into non-denominational Evangelical Protestant confusiondom. That is, out of the only Church that Jesus Christ started through His Apostles and into unBiblical denominations.
Even though over 80% of the population of the Philippines is Catholic, the BTEA says this on their website
:
The Philippines, a country comprised of over 7,100 islands, has historically been an area of abuse and conquest. Of the 86 million Filipinos, we estimate that over 65 million have never once heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Also according to their website, the goal of BTEA is to continue to attack the Catholic Church by dividing and fragmenting the people of God with their false teaching:
Our PLAN is to preach the Gospel in every village in the Philippines in the next few years. The task is great, but God specializes and delights in doing the impossible! We intend to increase our staff of national evangelists to 60. By dividing the country into theaters of operation, with each evangelist assigned to a specific area, and working extremely hard, we intend to preach the Gospel in every village. The plan includes providing theological training and guidance to help national pastors to conduct the best possible follow-up."www.btea.org/bteahistory.asp
Jesus Christ prayed that we all would be one, so that the world would believe and know that the Father sent His Son (Cf. John 17:21-23). Therefore, it follows that if we are not one, then the world has every reason not to believe our Gospel. For the past 500 hundred years, false ministries such as BTEA have been poaching Catholics into their synagogues of lies and heresy and together have contributed to fragmenting of Christians into over 30,000 Protestant denominations and their thousands of conflicting and competing doctrines. The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of Bob Tebow’s converts are poorly catechized Filipino Catholics. By aiding Satan in dividing the people of God Protestantism has, for the past 500 years, not only made Christianity weaker, but has also made it a mockery to the world. It is true, that because of groups like the BTEA, and their destructive machinations, the world has no reason to believe that the Father sent us His Son, because we are not one.
This is why faithful Catholics find it difficult to root for Tim Tebow. Inasmuch as he is a winner and we love winners, we also know the ministry that he gave his heart and soul to ever since he was a child is anti-Catholic, and that he using his new wealth to support his father’s plan to attack the Catholic Church.

Can we separate Tim Tebow on the football field from his evangelization efforts during the off season or from his financial contributions to BTEA? Can we separate the son from the anti-Catholic father? Indeed, these are good questions. As for me, I’d rather just keep it simple. Therefore I’m back to booing Tim Tebow until I forget to again. . . ." we need True Catholic Knights to go to the Philippines and aid with good Cathechism, and more Priestly vocations to go and aid/sacrifice for the baptized Catholics...

Tebow is a true knight of Christendom. Pity more men aren't like him. This should be normal behaviour. Let's hope is will gradually become so 😇

There wouldn't be so much attention to this if it weren't for the press constantly putting on display Tebow's convictions. Why should this be such a big deal in a Christian country? The real issue here is whether Tebow's success as a QB at Florida can carry over to the NFL, not his religious convictions.
