The Christmas tree comes from the Baroque period and the Catholic city of Strasbourg in Alsace. The Christmas tree comes from the Baroque period and the Catholic city of Strasbourg in Alsace. At the top is the baby Jesus or the star of Bethlehem, because the Christmas tree symbolizes the genealogical branches from the root of Jesse to Mary and her son Jesus. This fir or spruce has nothing to do with the Germanic oak or the world ash. Because these pagan symbol trees are not green on December 25th, they are not suitable for Christian hope. In Germanic culture there was no tree at the winter solstice (December).

Mit der germanischen Eiche oder der Weltenesche hat diese Tanne oder Fichte nichts tun. Denn diese heidnischen Symbolbäume sind zum 25. Dezember nicht grün, eignen sich nicht für die christliche Hoffnung. Im Germanentum kam zur Wintersonnenwende (Dezember) kein Baum vor.
