He was known above all for his very precise translation of the New Testament.
Iglesias was the youngest of six siblings who all became religious: two Jesuits, two Franciscans (one of whom later left) and two Sisters of Jesus Mary.
In the 1960s, Iglesias taught at the Roman Biblical Institute. He quickly realised that Vatican II was a disaster, and he opposed the work of destruction initiated by Father Arrupe, the Jesuits' Superior General, even though his older brother Ignacio was Arrupe's right-hand man.
Iglesias never gave up his cassock, left Rome and from then on worked in the apostolate of prayer, the magazine Reino de Cristo and in retreats and the spiritual accompaniment of sisters.
