In the last decade, the Spanish Council Church has experienced a collapse according to data from the Spanish Bishops.
• 2007-2019: Baptisms, communions and weddings have plummeted by 40%
• 21% of the 2019 marriages were celebrated in Church (2009: 45%)
• 48% of the babies born in 2019 were baptised (2009: 65%)
• 20% of the children received First Communion in 2019 (2009: 28%)
• Confirmations have increased by 28% since 2007
• The most Catholic areas in Spain are La Rioja (40%), Asturias (37.8%), Murcia (36.2%)
