The key word in God's postdiluvian rainbow promise regards the entire surface of the planet - the "whole" world. So, perhaps it is still possible that we'll see localized areas or certain regions and countries affected by these prophesied future events. I suspect we won't have to wait too much longer until we find out.

Agree. During the Cold War it was thought that the Soviet Union was the leader in missile technology. After the fall of the Soviet Empire it was discovered that the Soviets couldn't hit a cow in the butt with a handful of peas

His plane was shot down. The U2 was built for altitude--70,000 ft. Its top speed was 500mph.
A few years later the SR 71 appeared. Not only was its ceiling 85,000 ft, it also flew at least 2200 mph. Feel free to mention the times it was shot down.
