"Leo XIV Liturgically Meticulous to Novus Ordo Books and Allows People to Participate"
The election of Leo XIV was "not surprising, but all the more gratifying."
Cardinal Prevost brought experience from his religious community, diocesan pastoral work, the Roman Curia and canon law: "This versatility and broad perspective were much appreciated," Cardinal Erdö said of the conclave.
Regarding the new Pope's first Eucharist with the Cardinals, Cardinal Erdö emphasized that it was a Novus Ordo in Latin:
"I think that in him the Church has received a liturgically meticulous, but at the same time compassionate Pope, who can celebrate together with the people. This is important because we know that the liturgy is a central theme of our ecclesial life - and often the subject of debate."
Conservative cardinals like Erdö or Burke ("great joy") are as enthusiastic about Leo XIV as the anti-Catholic Francis cardinals like Hollerich or even gay activists like James Martin SJ.
