There is always hope in Christ! There is always hope in Christ! Advent is a great season of hope.
Hope, as the philosopher would say, is the desire of something with the expectation of attaining it. Hope is the desire of something with the expectation of attaining it.
So for what do we hope? Life eternal. A life forever, and free from sin in the company of God and his saints. In other words, the object, the point, the goal of our hope is God himself forever. That is the hope of all hopes, and that hope never leaves us. Even amidst the tribulations Christ warns us about in the Gospel today. . . hope remains. Thus, amidst any tribulations we face as individuals, as families, and as a parish. . . hope remains.
I want you to remember that. I want you to remember that hope remains as I go into the next part of my homily, because it is going to sound quite bleak. It is going to …More

All the old fogie baby boomers in the pews spent their youth destroying anything and everything their parents handed to them. All the old fogie baby boomers in the pews spent their youth destroying anything and everything their parents handed to them. Their over the top narcissism drove them to remake everything in their own image, because what they would make would be better than anyone ever made. Now that they're in their dotage it rankles them that the young today are looking at what the boomers made, then taking a look at what the boomers destroyed, and deciding that what they destroyed is infinitely better than what they replaced it with.

The writing is on the wall and I'm glad the boomers are going to live long enough to see it. Their whole destructive, narcissistic life's work is rubbish and their children and grandchildren are going to throw it in the bin where it belongs. A more than suitable twilight for a worthless and destructive generation.

JTLiuzza@>I agree with your sentiments, but your rush to pile on judgements on previous generations are not exactly of a charitable nature. That being said, I would hope you will take on board that thousands of loyal catholics resisted the destruction of Catholicity and its culture following Vatican 2. I and my family were part of that resistance. Now we are proud Grandparents of nineteen grandchildren …More

That being said, I would hope you will take on board that thousands of loyal catholics resisted the destruction of Catholicity and its culture following Vatican 2. I and my family were part of that resistance. Now we are proud Grandparents of nineteen grandchildren. Their parents are Traditionalists, as my wife and are. One last comment. Without the larger than life stature of one, Archbishop Lefebvre, it can be argued that the Traditional mass would not have survived.

Well good for you that you fought the good fight back then. Congratulations. Doesn't change the fact that your generation was foolish and destructive, even into their adulthood and old age. You destroyed what should have been cherished by you and handed to your progeny, and left us only with your mess to clean up. Your generation stomped on my generation's rightful patrimony. I'll add, it's typical of a boomer like you to exhibit ZERO charity your entire life then, when the rotten fruit you and yours produced is thrust upon others, and they point out the obvious and put the blame where it squarely belongs, you wag your marijuana coated finger about an absence of charity. Insufferable. The day the last boomer is planted into the ground should be declared a national holiday.
