CNA underlines Roche’s claim that “the misinterpretation and promotion of the use of these texts [of the Roman Rite], after only limited concessions by previous Pontiffs, has been used to encourage a liturgy at variance with Conciliar reform (and which, in fact, was abrogated by Pope Saint Paul VI), and an ecclesiology that is not part of the Church’s Magisterium."
However, CNA explains that abrogation is the "total abolition" of a law while Benedict XVI writes in Summorum Pontificum that the Roman Rite was “never juridically abrogated" - nor can it be abrogated.
