“So much for Fratelli Tutti” – Franca Giansoldati commented on IlMessaggero.it (December 17) on the resignation of Cardinal Turkson, the Prefect of the Department of Integral Human Development.
Giansoldati speaks of hidden clashes, intrigues and elbowing. In August, the dicastery was shaken by the never explained departure of two high-profile collaborators, one of them, an Argentinian, “who left behind a trail of malicious rumours,” Giansoldati writes.
The dicastery was created from the merger of four Pontifical Councils (Immigrants, Cor Unum, Justice and Peace and Health Workers).
Last year, Chicago Cardinal Cupich conducted a visitation at the dicastery producing a “shocking report” (Giansoldati) which revealed an infight between Cardinal Czerny (responsible for immigration) and Cardinal Turkson (on paper responsible for the whole, including Czerny).
