The Pew Research Center has found that Western Europe is one of the world’s most secular regions. Most Western European adults still do consider themselves “Christians” although this has almost no impact on their real life.

For instance, many non-practicing Christians say they do not believe in God “as described in the Bible”. Instead, they believe in some eroded higher power or spiritual force.

Christians Defend Their Country – Nonbelievers Don’t

The Pew Research Center found that Christian identity in Western Europe is associated with higher levels of critical sentiment toward immigrants and religious minorities. Christians – whether they attend Church or not – are more likely than religiously unaffiliated people to express negative views of immigrants, as well as of Muslims and Jews. Non-practicing Christians are less likely than practicing Christians to express views in support of their country.

Christians Acknowledge Common Sense

Christians are more likely than non-believers to say that their culture is superior to others and to affirm the truism that it is necessary to have the country’s ancestry to share the national identity, for instance, that one must have Spanish family background in order to be truly Spanish.

“Christians” in Favour of Murder

The vast majority of non-practicing Christians in Western Europe, favor gay pseudo marriage and killing unborn babies. Church-attending Christians are more humane on these issues, though even among churchgoing Christians, there is substantial support – and in several countries, majority support - for both crimes.
