This is what a REAL Catholic bishop sounds like. Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas 👇

Does it take many years to be able to smell garbage?

+Strickland is a good man, and certainly well-meaning. But he had just turned 7 years old when the Second Council of the Vatican adjourned. +Strickland is a good man, and certainly well-meaning. But he had just turned 7 years old when the Second Council of the Vatican adjourned. He has been raised in an ecclesial culture that has had a sense of the sacred rinsed from its fabric. He has learned by osmosis - beginning in the post-conciliar seminary training - to revere personalities more than their ideas. He would find the gentle and kind Benedict XVI, for instance, solidly orthodox because he said many good things, but would overlook his consistent heresy that the Church has no mission to the Jews. He's been disabused of papolotry fostered masterfully by JP II (the bishop would have been only 20 when he was elected) by Francis and I think he's still reeling from his own naivete with his praise of Amoris Laetitia.

After 60 years of the implementation of the Revolution by two Popes who benefitted from a media-fanned illusion of their being conservatives, three generations of bishops and priests simply do not have an adequate (that's a kind word for this situation) understanding of the Ancient Faith that they are mandated to protect, preserve and hand-on.

Now +Strickland is being held up as a paragon of an orthodox bishop. The problem is that he's never been schooled in orthodoxy. He has a good disposition, but he would have no problem returning the Church to the status quo ante Bergoglio.

Thank you. It's discouraging because so many reflect with their emotions and not their intellects.
