According to allegations in the Italian press, Francis has come up with a new idea for the sacked prefect of the papal household, Archbishop Georg Gänswein. He could become nuncio in Vaduz, a village of 5700 inhabitants and of the Principality of Liechtenstein. It is currently under the jurisdiction of the nuncio in Bern, Switzerland. Francis received Gänswein on 19 May. However, such a move could backfire, as it could create a parallel leadership in the archdiocese together with the future archbishop, since Archbishop Wolfgang Haas is about to retire. The archdiocese is a thorn in Francis's side because of the large number of Catholic priests there. Therefore, the possibility that Gänswein could be named the new Vaduz archbishop cannot be discarded, not to mention the fact that the Vatican lacks the finances to establish a nunciature in very expensive Vaduz.
