The Parish-Priest Didn’t Make It

Father Godefroid Mpembele of St. Joseph Mukasa Parish in Kikwit, Democratic Republic of Congo has succumbed to his injuries in a Kinshasa hospital.

The priest was shot in the shoulder during an attack by armed criminals on Saturday night, 6 August (InfoCongo.net).

The bandits hoped to be able to steal something as the parish was preparing to celebrate the First Mass of a newly ordained priest. Urban crime is widespread in Kikwit.
