Cardinal, Whom John Paul II Punished for Being Honest, Died

Cardinal Luigi Count De Magistris, 96, a solid Catholic, passed away February 16 in his native Cagliari, Sardinia.

In his life, De Magistris was a parish priest, collaborator of the Holy Office, especially of Cardinal Ottaviani, an early and prophetic critic of the disastrous Vatican II.

De Magistris became the Pro-Major Penitentiary in 2001. He publicly opposed the 2002 canonisation of Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of the [opportunistic] Opus Dei. As a punishment, John Paul II never made him a Cardinal sending him into retirement after less than three years.

In February 2015, De Magistris became a Cardinal at 89. He learned the news while hearing confessions in Cagliari Cathedral.

Cardinal Luigi De Magistris passed away (1926 – 2022). Born into an aristocratic family, he was ordained priest in 1952. During Vatican II, he worked for Cardinal Ottaviani in the Holy Office. In 2015 Pope Francis created him Cardinal. May his memory be eternal!

she was expelled, publicly opposed the canonisation of Escrivá.

And Josemaria Escriva had a temper.

Read the book "Beyond the Threshold" by former Opus Dei member Maria del Carmen Tapia. she was a member from 1046 until 1965, so the information is a bit dated, but she was a secretary for Fr. Escriva during part of that time. Did he act like a saint? No.

Father Murray, a canon lawyer, is absolutely correct when he says a Priest needs no permission from Gordo Bergoglio or his minions to pray the sacred Latin Mass. I pray that liturgy once/week-- and in my petition during the Canon (Te igitur cleminisissime, Pater) I ask Providence why He allows the Gordo filth to continue.
