About 15 years ago when I was still active amassing my fortune, I would occasionally see a neighbor who worked at an office just down the hall from me. We would simply greet each other but no serious conversations took place until this one day.
I did not see him for more than a week and when I finally saw that he was back I asked him if he was on vacation. He responded by gleefully telling me about his trip to Medjugorje and how he believed it will change his life. Even back then, although I was no expert, I did not fall for the marketing campaign that essentially was and still is Medjugorje.
He was the first actual visitor I ever met who had been there however I’ve seen too many of his kind on the internet including right here on GTV.
Generally speaking the Medjugorje gang are indefatigable, intransigent and absolutely unwilling to tolerate any opinion at variance with their own. I had never witnessed this kind of resolve from anyone including fellow Catholics. I was used to Catholics holding their faith close to themselves and unlikely to share it with essentially someone they didn’t really know well. Not the Medjugorians.
While he was speaking to me I was trying to decide what to do. Was I simply going to nod agreeably or would I argue some of his points.
I did neither. I looked at him menacingly right in his eyes and told him that if he continued with this crap I would knock him out and would have a smile on my face when I did it.
This devoted nitwit immediately stopped speaking. I am sure I was mentioned when he told his friends about his recent trip to Medjugorje and that shortly afterward he met the devil himself in the form of this guy down the hall (Holy Cannoli) who threatened to punch him. Ergo, Medjugorje must be authentic if the devil is against it.
This is the first time I have told this story and actually forgot about it till today.
I have mellowed a bit since those days and would not act in the same way today. Nevertheless, this is why I love social distancing.
