@Lisi Sterndorfer I suspect Cardinal Nichols won't rock the boat too much before his retirement. I expect his successor will be the real hatchet man, where TC is concerned.

“We have to obey” was the ecclesiastical equivalent of “I’m just following orders” as people were marched off to whatever horrors were rationalized by that excuse.

@Seidenspinner Seminarians and religious are actually told, even drilled, that they cannot err if they obey. There is never any discussion of the possibility that one may be faced with illegitimate orders.
