English Diocese: Catholics Should Bow to Pagan Deities

The diocese of Hallam, England, which is run by bishop Ralph Heskett (64) encourages Catholics in “guidelines for visiting pagan shrines” to act like pagans. Catholics should bring flowers to Buddha, bow to the Hindu idols called Murtis, bow to the Sikh holy book and eat food blessed in pagan rituals.

The first commandment states: “You shall have no strange gods before Me.”

@Dr Stuart Reiss. . ., maybe I should iterate that the reason he, in my opinion, needs to meet with an exorcist is for prayers, especially those of deliverance, because what he said, is most likely diabolically inspired.

This bishop needs an appointment with an exorcist, if only Fr. Ripperger had more time on his hands.

Sure why not? Did not "Saint JPII" permit statue of Buddha to be placed in the Church of St Francis to be worshiped during the interreligious prayer meeting in Assisi.

The Catholics in the first through third centuries would often choose death before offering a pinch of incense to the pagan gods of Rome. Catholics of our century are now being told to offer handfuls of incense to pagan gods by the bishops. I'll go with the early Catholics

I eventually found it here: hallam-diocese.com/about-doh/bishops-commissions/ So the report is accurate. Like I said in my first comment someone in Hallam needs to review their theology.

Further I have looked at the website of the diocese of Hallam and I can find no sign of such a document. What's the source for this report please?

While bowing to pagan (Hindu, Shinto etc) images etc., merely as an act of respect might not actually be a violation of the first commandment (since a Christian does not actually believe them to be Divine) such behaviour is an act of scandal-giving since one is giving the impression that one worships someone other than the Most Holy Trinity. It seems to me whoever wrote this advice of the diocese of Hallam needs to go back to school and correct their error forthwith.
