A ray of hope: 85-year-old German heresiarch Hans Küng is considering capping his life with assisted suicide. He is suffering from Parkinson’s disease. In the final volume of his memoirs he alleges that people have a right to – quote - “surrender” their lives voluntarily if illness, pain or dementia make further living unbearable. And: “I also don’t want to be sent off to a nursing home.” Küng recently called Pope Francis “a ray of hope.” He disclosed that the pontiff had sent him a hand-written note thanking him for books that Kueng sent to Francis after his election in March.

No choice: Catholic doctor Mark Hobart could be struck off Australia’s medical register for declining to arrange for an abortion of a healthy 19-week girl because her Indian parents wanted a boy instead. Hobart also refused to refer the abortion minded couple to an abortionist who would arrange for the procedure. The girl was nevertheless killed by her parents a few days later. The Victoria Abortion Reform Act 2008 allows conscientious objection only if doctors will find other medics to perform the abortions. Dr Hobart could lose his licence to practice medicine anywhere in Australia.

Powerful enemies: In Germany, a gigantic media row is mounting against Limburg bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst. The primary enemy of the bishop is the anticlerical media outlet “Der Spiegel” that was founded after Second World War with the help of former leading Nazi and SS members. “Der Spiegel” has randomly accused the bishop of over-spending for the renovation of the diocesan office rooms and even dragged him in front of a court for allegedly having lied under oath. The true reason for its fight against the bishop: He has powerful enemies among those prelates appointed by his ultraliberal, soft on abortion predecessor Franz Kamphaus.

No habit: At 5:45 a.m. Thursday an elderly sister was robbed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on the south side of Saint Louis. The nun, who according to CBS was not wearing her habit, was approached after she got out of her car and began walking toward the rectory. The robber pulled a screwdriver out and followed the nun into the rectory. Once inside, the suspect took the nun’s purse, pushed her down and ran off. The sister who is from the St. Joseph’s convent on Minnesota was not physically injured.

Hans Kung for one reason or another seems to always make the news.

Elderly sister wearing no habit was robbed...guess wanting to 'blend-in' with society by throwing away her habit has given her a taste of reality.

He has done the right thing, shame on you for deciding for others. Abortion is okay!
