Never Before in Church History: Entire Continent Opposes Pope - Dutch Bishop

Francis is selective in answering questions and his answers are often ambiguous, leading to confusion and division, auxiliary bishop Rob Mutsaerts, 65, of Herzogenbosch, told InfoVaticana.com (27 February).

Church teaching is that someone who is not in a state of grace cannot receive Holy Communion. But Francis' "Amoris Laetitia" contains many statements whose ambiguity "allows interpretations contrary to faith or morals".

Similarly, "Fiducia Supplicans". Mutsaerts states that a priest can bless sinners but not sin. Yet FS claims, contrary to Church teaching, that homosexual unions [= sin] can be blessed: "It does not help that Cardinal Fernández, in response to criticism, makes an artificial distinction between couple and union."

For Mutsaerts, it doesn't help either that Francis uses the example of priests who bless criminals in prisons: "We don't bless criminal acts. I can bless thieves, but not their activities. I can bless homosexuals, but not their union".

For Mutsaerts, it is clear that with Francis we are witnessing a "break with tradition". As a result, "in 2,000 years we have never seen so many people - even an entire continent - oppose a Roman declaration".

He describes the tone of Francis' Traditiones Custodes as "harsh". The faithful of the Roman Rite are often referred to as "rigid" or "with even more extravagant terms". It's enough to ask for a traditional Mass, and "you will be dumped".

Mutsaerts cites the example of the soft-spoken Bishop Strickland, who was removed by Francis, while German and Belgian bishops who consistently advocate the rejection of Church doctrine and morals are treated kindly: "This characterises the current pontificate".

For Mutsaerts, this shows what Francis' [hypocritical] slogan todos, todos, todos means: everyone except Catholics.

Don’t despair. All is not lost yet. The “gates of hell shall not prevail” is STILL the invincible, immutable, irreversible promise of Our Savior and Lord. And He CANNOT lie. Hold on a little while longer. The darkness of this age won’t last always. Daybreak will surely come. Perhaps not in our lifetime, but in that of our descendants.

The Bishop is right. We are in dire straits. A crisis of unfathomable proportions, the likes of which has never been seen in the entire existence of Holy Mother Church.
