A Holy Man: Before the Wednesday General Audience, Pope Francis received a delegation of Iranian Ayatollahs. After the meeting, one of the participants, Ayatollah Morteza Javadi Amoli said: “Today is the most beautiful day of my life because I have met a holy man.” He added: “Pope Francis proclaims the original and authentic message of Jesus Christ.”

Fraternal Correction: Bishop Athanasius Schneider has issued a statement in support of the four Cardinals who have asked the Vatican to clarify the confusion produced by the controversial document, Amoris Laetitia. Quote: “One has to trust that Pope Francis will accept this public appeal of the four Cardinals in the spirit of the Apostle Peter, when St. Paul offered him a fraternal correction for the good of the whole Church.”

Merciless Judgments: Bishop Schneider adds: “The unusually violent and intolerant reactions on behalf of some bishops and cardinals against the calm and circumspect plea of the four Cardinals cause great astonishment.” And: “Such apodictic, merciless judgments reveal not only intolerance, refusal of dialogue, and irrational rage, but demonstrate also a surrender to the impossibility of speaking the truth, a surrender to relativism.”

Calumnies: The accusations, leveled against Fr. Stefano Manelli, the founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, were rejected by an Italian court. From the beginning it was clear, that they were invented in order to destroy Manelli’s reputation. In this game, the anticlerical Italian media played a leading role. The Vatican actively supported them. Manelli was even accused of murder.
